The Association of Rising Computer Science Students (ARCS) of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru, had organised one-day industrial visit to BSNL, Mysuru, in association with management, principal, HoD and staff members for VI semester students recently. The objective of the visit was to make students aware of broadband, optical fibre communication, C-Dot and history of telecommunication. The students were allowed to visit and explore GSM, C-Dot, OFC and broadband lab.
In GSM lab, students were introduced to actual GSM system and were explained about its working. Network management system was briefed in C-Dot lab. In OFC lab, students learnt about transmitters, receivers, types of optical fibre cables, their parameters of working, and splicing mechanism.
