Over 150 academicians, including 25 from the University of Mysore, have applied for the post of Vice Chancellor of the prestigious university.
According to the sources and information from the Department of Higher Education, the department has already received over 150 applications from various professors, academicians and noted lecturers of various universities who fulfil the eligibility criteria. After Prof K S Rangappa retired from the post of Vice chancellor on January 10, the stage is set up for the appointment of the new VC.
Twenty-five professors from UoM who are aspiring for the VC Post have submitted their application and to everyone’s surprise, even after the last date, the higher education department is still getting applications. The department invited applications for the appointment of the VC for this century- old university.
However, a search committee will be taking the decision on the appointment of the VC after scrutinising the applications and would recommend the name to the Governor who is also Chancellor of the of UoM.
