Support the party that focuses on healthcare: IMA

Mysuru, April 8:- “Voters have to choose a political party that gives prominence to healthcare in the country,” opined the chief of Mysuru branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) here on Saturday.

Speaking at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club Dr S P Yoganna said that the nation doesn’t have even one doctor for 10,000 population. He said that the importance given to agriculture, industry and other fields are not given to private hospitals. He said that private hospitals are costly for patients as the hospitals don’t have any support from the government.

“As IAS and IPS grade officials are appointed to medical department as well, we can’t see the expected growth in this field. To overcome this, the government should start a new set of officers in the name of Indian Medical Service (IMS) which will certainly develop the medical field. As it requires expertise in any field, there is no value for MBBS doctors. For that, seats for the higher education in the medical field should be increased,” he added.

Dr Suresh Rudrappa, Dr Sujatha S Rao, Dr M S Jayanth, Dr N Chandrabhan Singh and others were present. (MR/KMR).
