Prime News, National (New Delhi), June 3:- Rohini court on Wednesday sent wrestler Sushil Kumar and his associate Ajay to 14-days of judicial custody after being produced before the judge by Delhi Police in connection with the Sagar Rana murder case. Earlier, Delhi Police had moved a plea in the court seeking an extension of 3-day custody of accused Sushil. Court further said that there was no ground for further police custody as Sushil had been in 10 days custody earlier.
Earlier on Monday, the crime branch had taken Sushil to Haridwar to investigate his hideouts and the people who helped him while he was absconding. So far, the Delhi Police investigation has revealed that 13 people were involved in the alleged murder of Sagar Rana, out of which nine have been arrested and the other four absconding, have been identified.
Sushil was using the Telegram app and internet dongle to use his SIM-less phone to contact his associates while on the run from the police, Crime Branch has revealed.
Sushil and his associate Ajay Kumar had been on the run since being named in the murder case of fellow wrestler Sagar Rana earlier this month. Sushil Kumar is India’s most-decorated wrestler with 2 Olympic medals, 3 Commonwealth Games gold medals, 1 world championship gold, 1 bronze in the Asian Games and 4 Asian Championship medals.
There is more trouble brewing for Sushil Kumar as the 2-time Olympic medalist is likely to be charged with destroying evidence by the Delhi Police. Police claim that Sushil tried to destroy evidence, including mobile phones and video footages.
Earlier on Friday, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch made its 9th arrest in the Sagar Rana murder case and the latest accused has claimed that he was one of those who beat up the wrestlers at the Chhatrasal Stadium’s parking area on the night of May 4. (MR, Inputs: Agencies).
