Mysuru, February 27:- “The Election Commission is conducting Sveep programme to create awareness among the public on ethical and compulsory voting,” said DC D Randeep here on Tuesday. He was speaking after inaugurating the Sveep emblem for 2018 Karnataka assembly elections at the DC office.
“Ramp facility will be provided to physically challenged to cast their vote. Sveep will take measures to ensure that tribal communities will vote,” the DC said.
“Sveep aims at increasing registration of voters, compulsory and ethical voting. Sveep committees are formed in taluks. PU and degree students are made to carry out a rally on one day every week to create awareness. Youths will be informed regarding voting through social media. A special illumination reading ‘Voting is your right’ will be displayed on Chamundi hills between 7 pm and 9 pm. 72.05% voting held in 2013 and it will increase this year,” said zilla panchayat CEO Shivashankar.
