Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is a national level talent search exam, organised by Vigyan Prasar, Vijnana Bharati and NCERT, to popularise science and identify and nurture talented students from across the community. Nearly 1 lakh students in classes 6 – 11 participated in the written exam across the country in November 2016. The top 120 students, 20 per class, from each state were selected for the state camp. In Karnataka, over 3400 students took the written exams in 38 centres across the state.
SVYM will be hosting the State Camp for Karnataka State tomorrow at Vivekananda Institute for Leadership Development, Mysuru (VLEAD, an initiative of SVYM). The State Camp will have a variety of assessment formats including written tests, experiments, video appreciation and situational problem analysis. 12 students selected in the state camp will be participating in the national camp at Delhi in May 2017.
The camp will end with the prize distribution ceremony at 4pm. Dr Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Director, Defence Food Research laboratory, Mysuru will be the Chief Guest of program along with Dr Arvind Ranade, National Convener of VVM and a scientist in Vigyan Prasar and Chandrasekharan Nair, CEO of Vijnana Bharati. Dr (Flt Lt) M ABalasubramanya, Secretary and CEO of SVYM will preside over the function.
