Mysuru, January 27:- Mysuru division of South Western Railway (SWR) observed 71st Republic Day event on Sunday. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Aparna Garg hoisted the national flag on the occasion.
“Railway department is considered as the engine that is leading the nation towards development. The Mysuru division of SWR has notched up Rs 613 crore of gross earning which is Rs 160 crore higher than the previous year. The Mysuru division of SWR handled 5.867 tonnes of freight traffic which is 112% higher than the earlier year,” she said.
“The past year has been historic for the division as the new trains have reached new destinations like Kochuveli, Renigunta, Kacheguda and Belagavi. Safety is being given the highest prominence in the railway. 26 lower crossing gates have been eliminated for safety. New bridges and under bridges are being constructed. Facilities are also improved at railway stations. Video surveillance provided at Mysuru, Shivamogga and Hassan Railway Stations for higher security,” she said.
“Integrated management system certificate has been provided to four railway stations. Mysuru is among the railway stations to get the certificate. Railway station now has plastic bottle crushing machines and has changed the landscape of railway premises with greener and cleaner environment,” she said.
She also appreciated the efforts of the railway staff and said promotions are given to 1,652 staff and are provided with unique medical identity cards.
