Mysuru, August 20:- Here is some piece of good news for the Mysureans to savour. The heritage city has won the top spot in the national-level Swachh Survekshan-2020 among the cities with a population of 3-10 lakh. The results of the survey were announced on Thursday (August 20).
The state capital, Bengaluru, has grabbed the top spot as a stable city. Among the cities with one lakh population, Madhya Pradesh’s Indore has retained the top position that it won last year. This is, in fact, fourth time in a row that it has won. Gujarat’s Surat is in the second spot followed by Navi Mumbai in the third position.
Among the cities with more than one lakh population, Maharashtra’s three cities have won the first three spots. Karad, Saswad and Lonawala in Maharashtra have hogged the limelight in that order.
In the virtual programme held at Mysuru Palace premises, pourakarmikas Nanjundaswamy and Manjula were felicitated by the MCC and the district administration.
In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supposed to announce the Survekshan results but as he was preoccupied with other commitments, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri made the announcement.
Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha, MLA S A Ramadass, Mayor Tasneem Bano, Deputy Mayor C Sridhar, Councillor B V Manjunath and health officer D Nagaraj were present at the programme held at the Mysuru Palace premises. (MR/KS)
