Mysuru, December 27:- Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has started its preparations to help the city to make it to the top of the list of cleanest cities as Swachh Survekshan (sanitation survey) campaign will begin soon. The officials of MCC met Rajamatha Pramoda Devi Wadiyar at Mysuru Palace on Thursday and requested her to become the ambassador of the campaign.
“Swachh Sarvekshan campaign will begin anytime. It is the responsibility of every Mysurean to make the city clean. Everyone should cooperate to make Mysuru cleanest again. MCC has requested me to become the ambassador for the campaign. But I won’t be in the city for some days. Whether I become the ambassador or not, Mysuru is my city and I love it more than any other place. I am ready to give any support for this cause,” she said.
“MCC has been creating awareness against the use of plastic. But the usage of plastic has not reduced in the city. The public should use paper or cloth bags instead of plastic,” she added.
“We have met Pramodha Devi and requested her to become the ambassador for the Swachh Sarvekshan campaign. She has assured of her support. We will discuss with the corporators and seek their support to make the city cleanest. Mysuru, which is in 3rd place among the cleanest cities, will be made the cleanest this year,” said Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath while speaking to media persons.
MCC Commissioner Gurudutta Hegde, MCC Standing Committee president Ramesh (Ramani), health officer Dr Nagaraj and others were present. (MR/KS)
