SWR employee commits suicide

Depressed over allegations of robbery in the Railways, an employee of South Werstern Railways (SWR) committed suicide at a private guest house in Lashkar Mohalla Police Station limits on Saturday. The police had filed an FIR against the victim on charges of stealing.

The victim is identified as Shenaz (33), a resident of Shivarampet. He was working as a clerk at the railway department in Arisikere. Six months ago, Rs 10 lakh went missing from the department. It was alleged that Shenaz was among the six culprits following which an FIR was filed against Shenaz. He was later transferred to Ashokapuram Railway workshop in city.

On Friday, he returned to his guest room in Lashkar Mohalla and bolted the door from inside and never came out. The guest room staff who grew suspicious about Shenaz not coming out of the room, immediately informed the police. Upon breaking the door it was found out that Shenaz had consumed poison and was lying dead on the floor. Further investigations are on.
