SWR fetes employees for outstanding work

To mark the 61st Railway Week celebrations, both individual and group awards were presented
The South Western Railways, Mysuru Division, feted its employees of various departments for their outstanding work during the 61st Railway Week celebrations held at the City Railway Station premises on Thursday. Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru division, SWR, Rajkumar Lal, accorded the awards.
As many as 116 employees of 14 departments received individual awards while another 200 employees were honoured with group awards on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajkumar Lal appreciated the employees of the Mysuru Division for bagging “Overall Efficiency Shield.” He congratulated the officials for winning the zonal level awards.
The Mysuru division won the efficiency shields in Accounts, Engineering, Mechanical, Security, S&T (shared with Hubballi), Safety (shared with Hubballi), Best Maintained Station, Best Maintained Rake. Besides, this year two officers Aizaz Ahmed, Assistant Operation Manager and Gopa Kumar, Assistant Engineer, Engineering Department and 21 employees of Mysuru Division have been recognised and awarded for their meritorious service with General Manager Award.
During 2015-16, the overall earnings of the division stood at Rs 600.82 crore compared to Rs 523.10 crore of the previous year – up by 14.86 percent, Rajkumar Lal said.
Further, he said that during 2016 -17, the division proposed for development of Subramanya Road station as per Adarsh norms which included raising of platforms to high level and extension to hold 24 coaches, platform extension of Bhadravathi station to accommodate 26 coaches along with provision of low cost platform shelter and improvement to circulating area, improvement of lighting arrangements at 24 stations, extension of platform at Chitradurga, Sagar Jambagaru, Arasalu and Harnahalli, Tarikere etc.

In the welfare front, he added, as many as 141 appointments have been made through RRB, RRC, and Compassionate grounds. A total number of 1093 employees were promoted through departmental selection and 142 employees were granted financial upgradation.
Cultural programmes were part of the celebrations which enthralled the jam-packed audience.
