SWR, Mysuru earns a revenue of Rs 226.62 cr

South Western Railway, Mysuru division, has earned a revenue of Rs 226.62 crore till August, said Divisional Railway Manager Atul Gupta.

Addressing media persons at a press meet here in the city on Friday, Gupta said, “Number of passengers carried on originating basis is around Rs 2.10 crores which is up by a percent compared to the corresponding period of the last year. In addition to the revenue of Rs 226.62, in ticket checking area, the Mysuru division has earned Rs 2.08 crores by registering around 70,000 cases. The growth has increased by 2.33% in relation to corresponding period of last fiscal.”

Speaking about the digital reservation chart display system, Gupta said, “With a direction of achieving the objective of paperless office, digital reservation chart display system has been installed at 30 important stations over Mysuru division which includes Mysuru, Shivamogga and Davanagere railway stations where real-time status of waitlisted reserved passengers will be displayed on the screens. “The progress of major passenger amenity work including the escalators, lifts, subway and others are almost ready and would be functioning very soon,” he added.

“A report of techno-economical survey conducted in the proposed Mysuru- Madikeri railway lane is sent to the concerned authorities and the report is in favour of us. The decision would be taken once we get reply from the authorities,” Gupa said.

Special arrangements by railways for Dasara:

To clear the extra rush of passengers anticipated during the Mysuru Dasara festivities, new services, augmentation of composition of trains and a few special arrangements have been made by the railways. On October 11 and 12, for the convenience of tourists, departing after witnessing Jumbo Savari and torch light parade, an additional passenger train will be run between Mysuru-Bengaluru-Mysuru. On October 11,
an additional train will be run between Mysuru-Chamarajanagara-Mysuru .
Additional stoppages have been provided at station on Mysuru-Hassan-Mysuru section for the train number 17301/02 Mysuru-Dharwad express on October 11. Augmentation of composition of a few passenger trains with addition general second class coaches on Mysuru-Chamarajanagar, Mysuru-Hassan and Mysuru-Talaguppa section have also been planned.

Senior divisional commercial manager K Anil Kumar, Engineer Raghunath and others were present.
