The encounter was not for those with a weak heart. Those who were present at the stadium for the World T20 match between India and Bangladesh on Wednesday would readily agree. Right from the first ball when Bangladesh asked India to take the first strike, the match was tantalisingly poised, what with the visitors trying to make the hosts sweat it out in the middle. That Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a shrewd captain came to the fore during the course of the match. It looked as if Dhoni was out to prove to some of his critics who have been baying for his blood for some time now.
That India could muster only 146 in the allotted 20 overs is a different story. One thought India had surrendered the early initiative. Bangladesh, on the other hand, came close to putting it across India, but thanks to Dhoni for reposing faith in young Hardik Pandya who bowled the last over. In the end, Dhoni’s gamble saved the day for India.
