He is the son of late Azeez Sait, former Congress leader and minister and is a fourth time Congress MLA and had served under former chief minister Dharam Singh as minister for Labour and Hajj. Sait holds a Bachelor of Business Management degree in 1992 from the University of Mysore.

Sait contested from the Narasimharaja constituency in 2002, 2004, 2008 and 2013 Assembly elections and won. What is unique about his victory is that his father, the late Azeez Sait, had won from the same constituency five times, after its creation in 1967.
