Mall of Mysore, a mall situated in the heart of the city may have to shut down its business very soon for alleged property tax evasion.
On Friday, chairman of town planning and improvement standing committee, Nandish Preetham along with Mysuru City Corporation officials conducted a special drive against Mall of Mysore and issued a notice to the authorities regarding tax evasion. Sources said that authorities of Mall of Mysore had not paid tax to the tune of Rs 5 crore to the MCC and have also failed to respond to the earlier notices issued to them.
It is also alleged that the Mall of Mysore authorities had failed to pay the water tax and also violated the MCC norms by not constructing multi level parking. Citing serious lapses on the part of the mall, members of the standing committee directed the officials to close Mall of Mysore if they fail to pay up the pending tax.
