A house at Alanahalli layout in city was burgled on Monday night when the house owner Sundar Raj, a government high school teacher in Bannur, was away from the city.
Police said that Sundar Raj along with his family members had been to Bengaluru on Saturday night and was expected to return on Monday morning, but due to KSRTC employees’ strike and holidays declared by the government, they stayed back in Bengaluru.
Taking advantage of the situation, the burglars on Monday night allegedly gained entry to the house on second cross road in Alanahalli layout by breaking open the front door. It is also learnt that before committing the crime, the burglars had locked neighbours’ main doors from outside.
One of the neighbors noticed the door open in the morning around 7:30 and informed the Nazarbad Police.
Police personnel rushed to the spot with dog squad and finger print experts and examined the crime scene. A case has been registered in Nazarbad Police Station and investigations are on.
When contacted by ‘City Today,’ Sundar Raj who was on his way to Mysuru, claimed that 142 grams gold, 100 gram silver and cash of Rs 7,500 along with few documents may have been stolen.
