Mysuru, April 6:- Having retired as a Kannada lecturer from the Government Degree College after nearly 30 years of service, G Krishnakumar and his wife Manjula were felicitated by Gelayara Balaga at a private hotel here on Tuesday (April 6).
Talking on the occasion, Legislative Council MLC K T Srikantegowda said, “The veteran lecturer couldn’t have asked for anything better in life. Thirty years of a satisfying journey that saw Krishnakumar mould many promising youngsters should be written in golden words. He used to help many poor students from rural areas and had become the beacon of light for many of them. He used to make them understand the importance of education and throughout his career, he tried to be a role model for other lecturers.”
The MLC said, “For a teacher, creativity, concentration and regular reading are essential. If all the teachers understand this secret, we can see a lot of progress in the education sector.”
Mysuru District Degree College Department’s Assistant Director Nagamallesh said, “A teacher has a major role in today’s society. Instead of building hundreds of temples, it is better to establish schools. Krishnakumar’s ideals are our guiding force. When a student aims at something, he needs the support of a teacher. Students need to concentrate hard to do well in examinations.”
