Terror attacks in Sri Lanka: Tributes paid to deceased at Mass held at St Philomena’s Church in Mysuru

Mysuru, April 24:- A solemn Mass (prayer service) was held at St Joseph’s Cathedral (St Philomena’s Church) at Lashkar Mohalla in the city on Wednesday morning to pay tributes to those who were killed in the series of terror attacks which occurred on Easter Sunday (April 21) in Sri Lanka.

The Mass was offered by the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Mysuru Rev Dr K A William. He was assisted by former Bishop of Mysuru Diocese Rev Dr Thomas Anthony Vazhapilly and priests from other christian denominations.

“Let God pardon those persons who have killed innocent people in Sri Lanka. Let them have humanitarian values. Let them not indulge in such heinous acts again,” said Bishop Rev Dr William.

“Such incidents had taken place during Easter Sunday in 2013 as well. Easter Sunday is a holy occasion for all Christians across the world. Those who were offering prayers at the church were killed by the terrorists. Those who are really religious would not engage in such dastardly acts,” he added.

Mysuru Police personnel along with the sniffer dog squad are frisking everyone who enters the church. (KS, NGB)
