Textile showroom forced to shut shop in Mysuru

Prime News, Karnataka, Business, Lockdown, Mysuru, June 28:-  With the Covid-19 cases coming down drastically, lockdown in Mysuru district has been relaxed by the district administration. People are allowed to buy their essentials from 6 am to 2 pm. Much to the dismay of a cloth merchant on K T Street, opposite Prabha Theatre, the city police came to his shop as soon as he opened and forced him to close it.

According to the police version, only essential commodities, vegetables and fruits are allowed to be sold from 6 am to 2 pm and not textile showrooms.

The shop owner had a point when he said that most of the shops have been allowed to function normally. “I closed the shop around 3 months back but I am yet to get permission to reopen. The same thing happened last year as well and I could not do business at all. If this is the case, how do we earn our livelihood?”

Many citizens expressed that the authorities need to be clear in their stance, otherwise, it will lead to a lot of confusion among the public. (MR/KS)
