A gang of 20 members attacked rowdy-sheeter Ashok alias Pai at Madarahalli Village of Mandya District on Tuesday morning.
Ashok alias Pai, who was acquitted by the High Court a few months back in the murder case of Jadeja Ravi, a member of the Mandya City Municipal Council, was attacked with lethal weapons at his wife’s house in Madarahalli at 2 am on Tuesday.
Sources said that the gang entered Pai’s house with lethal weapons and chilli powder to attack him. However, Pai managed to fight all alone with the gang and successfully escaped from them.
It is alleged that Manjunath, a close aide of Jadeja Ravi, had hired killers to murder Ashok Pai, who was accused in the murder of Jadeja Ravi, a sensational murder that took place on December 7, 2007. In November, 2016, high court acquitted Ashok and others, by stating that the trial court had based its judgement on unsustainable evidence by hostile witnesses, and hence all the accused were released.
K M Doddi police officers, who visited the spot, suspect that the attack on Pai was due to personal grudge. The police have recovered mobile and weapons from the spot. The cops have formed a team and are conducting a search operation to nab the attackers of Pai.
