Mysuru, February 12:- “Theatre education should be given to students in the regional language,” said In-charge director of National School of Drama, Prof Suresh Sharma on Monday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the week-long theatre festival, ‘Bharata Ranga Mahothsava’ being organised by National School of Drama at Rangayana in the city.
“Students joining NSD have to spend their three years in learning Hindi than learning drama. Once he gets back to his motherland, he finds it difficult to adjust to the regional theatre. Theatre education should be given in regional language,” he added.
Director of Rangayana Bhagirathi Bai Kadam, joint director V N Mallikarjuna Swamy, B S Patila and others were present. ‘Mahasagaram,’ the Malayalam play was staged on the occasion. (MR/SH)
