Theft: Auto driver thrashed in public

An auto driver, who recently stole a purse from one of the commuters in a theatre, was thrashed by the same commuter in the city.

The auto driver, identified as Suhail (25), a resident of Udaigiri, had recently stolen a purse from a cinema theatre following which the victim had lodged a complaint at Mandi police station.

On Saturday, the victim met the same auto driver Suhail near K ER hospital. Recognising the culprit, the victim thrashed the auto driver and later handed him over to the police. A habitual offender, Suhail, it seems, has a long history behind him. Many auto drivers opine that such incidents only tarnish the image of other auto drivers and the trust between the drivers and the commuters goes for a toss. – KS, PR
