Theppothsava of Goddess Chamundeshwari held at Devikere

Mysuru, October 16:- Theppothsava of Goddess Chamundeshwari was held with pomp and gaiety at Devikere of Chamundi Hills on Tuesday night. Thousands of devotees took part in the event.

Various pujas were held for the Goddess Chamundeshwari at the Chamundi Hills since morning. Theppothsava was held with all the rituals at Devikere at 7:45 pm.

The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari was offered prayers at the lake. The idol was taken for three rounds in the lake in a decorated and illuminated boat. Cannon was fired as a mark of respect to the goddess. Puja rituals were led by the chief priest of the temple, Dr Shashishekar Dixit.

As a good omen, it started to rain heavily ahead of Theppothsava. The rituals could not be held in time due to rain. Thousands of devotees took part in Theppothsava despite rains. Devotees were seen capturing the moments on their cell phones.

Titular king of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar also participated in the event. (MR/KS)
