Thief escapes enroute to court

Mysuru, May 22:- A thief, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, gave it a slip while being taken for an inquiry.

Rafiq (35) alias Champi, a resident of Galipura of Chamarajanagar taluk, was being taken to Chamarajanagar court for interrogation on Monday when the incident took place. Constables Ramesh Nayaka and Satish were taking him to the court which was supposed to pass the order. The judge had postponed the hearing which was scheduled at 10:30 am. While returning back to Mysuru, he told the cops that he wants to attend nature’s call.  When he did not return after a long time, the constables went to check,  him only to realise he had hoodwinked them. They informed Chamarajanagar police who are in search of the thief. The police have registered a complaint at Chamarajanagar police station.

He is said to be an expert in fooling people. On an earlier occasion, he had escaped when he was being taken to Nanjanagudu court. Three police officials were suspended subsequently. Later, he was caught in Tamil Nadu by Nanjanagudu police after a long time. (MR/KS).
