Thippeswamy was more keen in art than anything else: Dr S M Jambukeshwara

Mysuru, December 27:- Dr P R Thippeswamy Study Centre of the University of Mysore (UoM) organised a special lecture at B M Shri Hall at Manasagangothri here on Wednesday.

Renowned artist Dr S M Jambukeshwara delivered a special lecture on Thippeswamy.

“Thippeswamy was the president of Karnataka Lalitakala Academy. He had received almost all the awards given to the artists by the state government. When the then chief minister of Karnataka, S Nijalingappa, visited Thippeswamy’s residence, he saw a beautiful painting of Mahatma Gandhi on the wall. When he asked Thippeswamy’s father about the art, he said it was done by his son Thippeswamy. He advised Thippeswamy’s father to send him to Mysuru to pursue his passion. He was more interested in painting than studies,” he explained.

Director of Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS) Prof M N Talawar, Dr P K Rajashekar and others were present. (MR/GK)
