Mysuru, November 14:- Many children are enjoying on the occasion of Children’s Day (Bal Diwas) by taking part in games and other activities. But here is this child who works from dawn to dusk for her daily bread. The privileged school children from various schools in city participated in heritage bicycle ride and other activities organised by the district administration. But this child was walking on a rope tied at a height between two poles to earn money and buy medicines for her ailing mother.
The birthday of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru (Chacha Nehru) is observed as Children’s Day. Nehru who was fond of children, decided to observe his birthday as Children’s Day. In Mysuru, school children participated in a bicycle rally, were allowed to visit Dasara Exhibition and Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens without entrance fee. In contrast, a girl was walking on a rope to earn money for her mother’s treatment and livelihood. There may be many underprivileged children who need such recreation in a country like ours but they can’t afford to spend their time and money. Hope better days are there for them.
