Mysuru, September 20:- The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru, organised a three-day faculty development programme (FDP) on “Inspirational teaching, IoT and 5G communication” from September 15-17.
The FDP was organised for the faculty members to provide the inputs related to new concepts in teaching and learning methods, upgradation of pedagogy in technical education, internet of things on dairy farming and industry standard Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) interfaces in 5G communication.
The FDP was inaugurated on by resource person Dr Sudarshan Iyengar, associate professor, Department of CSE, IIT Ropar, Punjab, in the presence of Dr Shivakumar M, principal, GSSSIETW; Dr Rajendra R Patil, professor and head, Departmentof ECE; Dr S Padmashree, professor, Department of ECE and convener of FDP, and faculties of GSSSIETW.
A session on “Inspirational teaching” was delivered by Dr Sudarshan Iyengar. He gave inputs related to inspirational and quality teaching-learning methods in education. He stressed the need for two teaching formulas for every teacher: extreme love towards subjects and students for better learning. Over 100 faculty members were present.
Day two of the FDP was in virtual mode, delivered by Ravi Shiroor, CEO, Stellapps (P) Ltd, Bengaluru, on “IoT with real-time implementation.” He emphasised IoT and its applications in milk production and marketing which helps farmers.
Vanaja B. Pandit, secretary, GSSS; who was present virtually at the event appreciated the idea of IoT application in dairy farming.
Day 3 of FDP was in virtual mode, delivered by Kiran Marate, founder and CEO, Deshila Technology Research Institute, Bengaluru, on “Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) in 5G communication.” He explained the evolution of RAN architecture from 1G to 5G communication network.
R K Bharat, Management Committee member and CEO, GSSS; and Anupama B Pandit, administrative officer, GSSSIETW also participated in the FDP. (MR)
