A three-day workshop was organised on gender equality at Department of Studies in Commerce Manasagangothri in association with Bharathiya Jain Sanghatan recently. Chairman of the Department Prof K Nagendra Babu along with chief guest Dr Yashodha, Chairman, PG Department of Sociology, MGM, Mysore and office bearer of the Bharathiya Jain Sanghatan Omprakash, National Executive Secretary, Goutham Bafna President of BJS in Karnataka inaugurated the programme.
The chief guest emphasized that gender equality was important and women are taking on different professions in the mainstream. “50% of the women are working in unorganised sector shouldering the responsibility of the family which is priceless,” she said. Dhanalakshmi, the chief trainer praised the efforts of the Bharathiya Jain Sanghatan in organising such social change workshop. Prof K Nagendra Babu opined that the British played a major role in eradicating some of the social evils that plagued India then.
