Three Mysureans bag silver medals in Chess Boxing World Championship

Mysuru, August 14:- Three Mysureans who represented India in the Chess Boxing World Championship have brought laurels to the city by bagging three silver medals.

Sanjay Kumar M K, Thejas M N and Adarsh S, all three from the Academy of Self Defense (ASD), Mysuru, represented India in the Chess Boxing World Championship held in Kolkata recently.

The world championship was organised by Montu Das, president of Chess Boxing Organisation of India and was sanctioned by WCBO World Chess Boxing Organisation. More than 200 fighters from USA, Germany, Russia, Netherland, Iran and Norway participated in the championship.

For the first time in Karnataka, three young fighters represented India and made it to Chess Boxing World Championship and made our country proud by winning three silver medals.

Sanjay Kumar M K bagged silver medal in the 60 Kg (Senior Men Division), while Thejas M N  bagged silver medal in the 85 Kg (Senior Men Division) category and Adarsh S bagged silver in the +95 Kg (Senior Men Division). The three member team was led by Pooja Harsha, State Chief of Karnataka Chess Boxing Association.

ASD Fight Club of Mysuru is the first academy to introduce Chess Boxing Sport in Karnataka and train the boxers. Every day scores of students get trained under Master Harsha Shankar, the founder and head coach of ASD Fight Club. –(KK)
