Mysuru, January 9:- Tiger census has begun at Nagarahole and Bandipur National Parks.
On the first day of the seven-census on Monday, one tiger was sighted in Bandipur safari zone and three at D B Kuppe range. Footprints of the tigers are also being recorded. Though the census is of tigers, census of peacock, deer, bison and other animals are also being held. The census process begins at 6 am and continues till 10 am. Several volunteers have continued the census even after 10 am.
Students of Forestry College, Ponnampet, are actively involved in the census. The team also includes eight girls. Use of cell phones is prohibited during the census. (MR/KS).
