Tiger dies at Mysuru Zoo

Mysuru: A 20-year-old tiger ‘Brahma’ died at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens here on Friday (July 24). Zoo director Ajit Kulkarni has informed that the tiger died of old age.

The Karnataka Forest Department had captured the tiger in 2008 in Brahmagiri of Virajpet taluk in Madikeri district. After being christened ‘Brahma,’ the male tiger was adopted by yoga guru B K S Iyengar.

Brahma’s end came at around 3 pm on Friday. At present, the zoo has 10 tigers and eight tigresses, Kulkarni said. (MR, KS)
