Mysuru, September 19:- Naada Habba is just a day away. Preparations for the nine-day festival or Navarathri are getting final touches. Considering Dasara attracts lakhs of people from all over the world, right security needs to be in place to avoid any untoward incidents during the next 10 days or so. On its part, the police is all geared up to provide fool-proof security.
The police department has taken all measures to secure the entire city. CCTV cameras are being installed at important points and an official has been appointed to look after the cameras. The cameras will have an eye everyone visiting the heritage city. Cameras have been installed at palace premises, Maharaja grounds, Chamundi Hills, bus stand, railway station and other vital places.
“Police officials, ACPs, DCPs and SPs from various districts including Chamarajanagar, Hubballi and Dharwad will come to the city to be part of the security measures. An additional four-five thousand cops will be employed for security purposes. Dog squad, bomb detection squad and metal detectors will be employed. Several roads will be made one way,” said DCP Vishnuvardhan.
All the vehicles entering or going out of the city will be thoroughly checked.
“We are doing our best to provide the best security for Dasara. We will ensure that no casualties take place during the festivities. Around 500 – 600 police officials will look after the security at the palace premises,” said Commissioner of Police, Dr A Subrahmanyeshwara Rao. (MR/KS).
