Tipu Jayanti: Prohibitory orders clamped in Kodagu

Prime News, Karnataka, Madikeri, November 9:- In view of  Tipu Jayanti celebrations tomorrow, the district administration has clamped prohibitory orders from November 9 to November 11 to maintain law and order. According to Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu, Vidya, beginning today, Section 144, 144 (a) will be in force from 6 pm to 6 am till November 11.

Barring government-sponsored programmes and pre-arranged private programmes such as marriages, no other programme will be allowed during this period.

Any programme that is pro or against Tipu Jayanti is totally banned. The administration has also banned public rallies, protests, provocative speeches, putting up banners, flexes, buntings and hand bills against or in support of Tipu Jayanti.

The order also prohibits anyone carrying weapons, displaying weapons except for government authorised and ATM security agencies which require carrying a gun for their operations. Assembly of more than five people has also been prohibited in the next three days.

No liquor sale: The district administration has also banned sale of liquor in Kodagu during the prohibition period till November 11.
