“Our present education system mainly focuses on exams and marks leaving behind the student community in a perpetual state of worry,”said Rangayana Director H Janardhan.
Delivering the valedictory address at the valedictory programme of NSS, Sports and Cultural Activities of Maharani Women’s Science College on Wednesday H Janardhan stressed on the need of students to get involved in cultural and sports activities to shape their life in a better way.
He said, “As Kuvempu said every child is a universal being when he is born and as he grows he becomes a little man in front of the universe. He becomes self-centred and grows insensitive towards his surroundings and the environment. But when they are provided with right education at schools and colleges together with cultural and sports the exposure of students would be well rounded.”
“It is saddening to see cases of honour killing and exploitation of poor and downtrodden in the society to this day. Students should be rational and fight against ills of the society. More discussions and seminars on pressing issues should be held,” he added.
MLA Vasu, Principal Prof M L Vijayakumari, Additional Commissioner of Regional Commissioner’s office M R Ravi, former Zilla Panchayat president Dr Pushpa Amarnath, Dr Shivalingaiah, Prof V R Ramesh Babu and others were present.
