- 52 convicts set free on Independence Day
Nothing tastes like freedom. None other than the convicts, who were released on the occasion of 70th Independence Day yesterday, can explain this to you better. To be precise, 52 convicts, including 17 women, were set free from Mysuru prison based on their good conduct.
- Dog of Mysuru police dog squad wins gold medals
Gaja, a four-year-old dog of Mysuru Police Dog Squad, won two gold medals at the Southern Range Police Dog Show held in the city, recently.
- Minister inspects site for Gandhi Memorial
District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa is seen examining the draft plan for a Gandhi Memorial structure at the Subbarayanakere Park in city on Tuesday. The memorial will come up on confirmation of the site at a cost of Rs 5 crore sanctioned by the state government. Mayor B L Bhyrappa, Deputy Commissioner D Randeep, Assistant Deputy Commissioner Venkatesh, MUDA Commissioner P Mahesh and other officials are seen.
- Round Table India, Ladies Circle India celebrate Independence Day
Round Table India (RTI) and Ladies Circle India (LCI), Mysuru chapters, held Freedom Drive and flag hoisting events on the occasion of India’s 70th Independence Day. The objective of the freedom drive was to spread awareness about its mission of ‘Freedom through education.’
- Mobile shop, temple burgled in Vidyaranyapuram
A mobile shop in the Vidyaranyapuram police station limits was burgled on Tuesday morning. The mobile shop is situated 300 metres away from the police station. In another incident, Shani Mahatma temple which is located 500 metres away from Vidyaranyapuram police station, was also burgled.

Agriculture department provided power tillers for farmers at concessional price which were distributed to the farmers by Taluk Panchayat president Nanjundaiah in a programme, recently.

State Farmers’ Federation and State Sugarcane Growers’ Association staged a protest at CADA office, in city, urging for water supply to their paddy and sugarcane crop through canals of Kabini and KRS, on Tuesday.
