Tonachikoppal murder case: Life imprisonment for 6 men

Mysuru, March 18:- The District Sessions Court has sentenced six people to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 each in the Tonachikoppal 2010 murder case near Bisilumaramma Temple.

The six convicts, Hemanth, Ashok, Manjesh, Praveen, Ramesh and Suraj are the accused. The court had acquitted Chandru, Swamy and Sunil, who were arrested in the case, last week.

The 11-member gang had murdered one Kariyappa near Tonachikoppal Bisilumaramma Temple on October 3, 2010. Saraswathipuram Police had arrested all the 11. Among them, Devu and Vijay died subsequently.  The hearing of the case went on for nine long years. Three were acquitted in the recent hearing on March 14. The remaining six have been held guilty of the murder. (MR/KS).
