Mysuru, March 23:- After Dasara Wrestling Competition, people of Mysuru can witness wrestling bout at D Devaraja Urs Multipurpose Wrestling Stadium in the city tomorrow (March 24).
Arka Foundation and Arka Dhama Yoga Ayurveda founder Srinivasarka, in memory of his father late T Krishna Murthy, who was also a renowned wrestler, will be conducting the wrestling competition where wrestlers not only from across the state but also from other states including Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh will be seen in action during day-long wrestling competition.
Pailwan Sunil Kumar from Haryana and Devender Singh from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh will be seen in action in the morphit wrestling. Prominent wrestlers from Mysuru who will also be seen in action include Pailwan Afroz Khan, Pailwan Mohammed Akmal and Mohammed Nazir.
Pailwan Afroz Khan said, “After Dasara Wrestling Competition, we have not seen proper wrestling competition at Devaraja Urs Multipurpose Wrestling Stadium. Hence to promote wrestling in Mysuru which was very famous during our Maharaja period, Srinivasarka has come forward to promote wrestling in Mysuru. Based on response, we are planning to conduct wrestling competition every year. On Sunday, apart from morphit wrestling, there will be 25 different bouts which will be fought between 3 pm and 9 pm. The entry is free for the public”.
He also mentioned that wrestlers from Belagavi, Davangere, Bengaluru, Kolapur, Hubballi and Mysuru will also be seen in action. The winners including in morphit wrestling will take home attractive cash prizes which are on offering. The wrestling competition will be inaugurated by Srinivasarka at 3 pm on Sunday. (MR)
