Tourists including geologists from Mysuru safe in Sri Lanka

Mysuru/Colombo, April 24:- Fourteen people from Karnataka, including five geologists who are on a tour in Sri Lanka are reportedly safe and healthy.

In the terror attacks on churches and ritzy hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday (April 21), 321 people were killed and more than 500 wounded. Eight tourists from Karnataka are also among the dead.

The tourists have gone on a 6-day tour to Sri Lanka organised by Thomas Cook (India) Ltd, travel agents, Dewan’s Road, Mysuru.

The group members including geologists M V Ravishankar, K V Vedamurthy, Channabasappa, Vinay Ranganath, HN Umesh and their family members Shyla, Mouna Umesh, Poornima Ravishankar, Anoop Ravishankar, B S Shalini, Swaroopa, Gowthamy Vedamurthy, and Sanath Ranganath are reportedly safe in Sri Lanka. The tourists are lodged at Hibiscus Beach Hotel, 40 kilometres from Colombo.

They had left for Sri Lanka on April 19 and were scheduled to return to Mysuru on April 24. Since the flight has been delayed due to the terror attacks, the return of tourists from Mysuru has been postponed. (NB, NGB)
