Taluk Panchayat president Kalamma Kemparamayya and vice president Manju visited the government girls’ hostel at Paduvarahalli which was constructed by the Department of Public Welfare.
Hostel inmates complained regarding lack of facilities in the hostel. “Even though many solar heaters have been installed, connections are yet to be given. No proper drinking water is provided because of which many girls are facing health issues. At night, some miscreants are pelting stones at the hostel. There is no proper security inside the hostel,” girls complained.
After listening to the problems of the hostel inmates, Kallamma directed the public welfare officers to provide pure drinking water and install CCTV cameras.
Addressing the media, she said that girls come to city from remote villages to study. “Providing basic facilities to them is our responsibility. But due to a few lazy officers, students are deprived of such facilities. All problems will be solved within a week. If not, the officers will to face severe action,” she warned.
