A training programme on drug chemistry, organised by the department of pharmaceutical chemistry, JSS College of Pharmacy, in association with Department of Health Research, was inaugurated in the city on Tuesday.
Registrar of JSS University, Dr B Manjunatha inaugurated the training programme which will be from November 15 to December 14. Delivering the inaugural address, he emphasised the importance of conducting such training programmes as the university is not just meant for awarding degrees. He called upon all the participants to utilise the opportunity to learn and update their knowledge in the field of drug chemistry from the experts.
Delivering the key note address, non-executive director of Gangagen Biotechnologies Dr Anand Kumar said, “Training programme on computer aided drug design combined with drug synthesis, analysis and pharmacological screening will be helpful in new drug discovery.”
Guest of honour, Dr Sunil Kumar, consultant of Drug Discovery solution, stressed on the use of molecular modelling software for cost- effective new drug discovery.
Principal Dr G Parthasarathi, Dr G V Pujar, Dr B R Prashanth Kumar and others were present.
