Tribals cheated by state govt; funds returned: M Krishnaiah

Mysuru, March 17:-  The state government has cheated tribals by not establishing a development board for the tribals welfare, said M Krishnaiah, president of Karnataka Adivasi Rakshana Parishat at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Saturday.

“Due to the negligence of the officials of Valmiki Development Board, the money is returned to the government treasury. The announced Rs 200 crore fund has also been returned to the government without being utilised. How can the development of the tribal people be achieved? Tribals need a separate development board,” he urged.

“We thought that the tribals welfare shall be taken care when Minister H Anjaneya celebrated his birthday at tribal hadis, but we are saddened as the funds have been returned to the government. The government didn’t even implement the report of Prof Musaffar Assadi. If the government doesn’t establish a development board and utilise the fund of Rs 292 crore, we will stage a statewide protest,” he warned.
