Social Media News, Nation, (New Delhi), July 21:-Seems like the new Rs. 100 note, announced by The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday, has taken Twitter by storm.
The RBI revealed lavender-coloured Rs 100 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing the signature of the bank’s governor, Dr Urjit R Patel.
The new denomination has a motif of ‘RANI KI VAV’ on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage. It also contains other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse. The dimension of the banknote will be 66 mm × 142 mm.
From comparing the note with the talcum to ones from the board game Monopoly, it has surely amused Twitterers even before making way to the banks and pockets.
“This new lavender ?100 note is tribute to ponds dreamflower talc,” wrote one.
“Dear makers of the board game #Monopoly: Can you please change your currency – it looks suspiciously like the new Indian notes! And stay off lavender, pink & saffron – perhaps they have stolen your colour scheme?” wrote filmmaker Rakesh Sharma.
“Remember the colour changing Chameleon This is him now, feeling old yet?? #Rs100” wrote another.
“Then : paise ane ke baad log rang badalte hai. Now : Paise hi apna rang badalte hai #Rs100”, tweeted a user.
“New Rs. 100 note in Lavender… Seems like Odonil is printing notes,” wrote an user.
Speaking about the new Rs 100 note, the front of the note contains a see-through register with denominational numeral 100, a latent image with the numeral and also a Devanagari version of the same.
It also contains a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, with micro letters ‘RBI’, ‘Bharat’ (in Hindi), ‘India’ and ‘100’, Governor’s signature with promise clause and RBI emblem towards the right of Gandhi’s portrait.
For the visually impaired, the note has an embossed printing of Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem, raised triangular identification mark with micro-text 100, and four angular bleed lines- both on the right and left sides.
The back of the new currency has the year of printing, Swachh Bharat logo and slogan, language panel, Motif of RANI KI VAV, and denominational numeral 100 in Devanagari script.
