Two college girls injured as car driven by minor hits them

Mysuru, August 13:- A car driver who hit two college girls and tried to escape with the car was caught by the public at Kautilya Circle near Crawford Hall of University of Mysore on Tuesday morning.

Two students of Maharani College for Women, Prema and Ashwini were walking near Kautilya Circle on Tuesday morning and were hit from behind by the car. Ashwini fell unconscious on the spot. The car driver didn’t even stop the car and tried to escape. The passersby stopped the car and then the driver tried to flee from the spot. However, people chased him and managed to nab him and was handed over to the police.

The car driver and another occupant are also students and reportedly minors. One Prithviraj was driving the rented car. He had picked his friend Anoop, a student of Yuvaraja College in the car and was driving. The driver who allegedly fell asleep hit the two students. While they were running away, the public chased them down and caught them near Maharaja College. Prithviraj hit a Bolero vehicle of MUDA before hitting the two students. The duo were beaten up by the public and then were handed over to the police. The car driven by Prithviraj has also been damaged.

The two college girls were treated at KR Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital for further treatment. A case of over-speeding and hit-and-run case has been registered against Prithviraj under IPC section 279 and 338. (KS, NGB)
