Mysuru, November 9:- A two-day workshop on Tipu Sultan will be held on November 11 and 12 at Hotel Nalapad Residency in the city, said president of Karnataka Dalit Welfare Trust Shantharaju at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Thursday.
The workshop is being held under the joint auspices of Karnataka Dalit Welfare Trust and Responsible Citizens’ Forum.
“Historian Prof Nanjaraje Urs will inaugurate the programme at 10:30 am. Writer and rationalist Prof K S Bhagawan will preside over the event. Prof Mahesh Chandra Guru will deliver a special lecture. Shabbir Musthafa, Maulana Ayub Ansari, M F Kaleem will be present,” he said.
‘Tipu as a nationalist,’ the first session of the conference will be held in the afternoon. Dr Gurusiddaiah and R Mahadevappa will present their papers. Kaleem Ahmed will preside over the session,” he added.
“University of Mysore Registrar (Evaluation) Prof J Somashekhar will present ‘Tipu as a practitioner of equality’ and Prof Mahadevi of Dr B R Ambedkar Study Centre will speak on ‘Tipu as a pioneer of social justice.’ The session will be chaired by Dr Rati Rao,” he said.
“On the session on November 12, Talakadu Nagaraj will speak on ‘religious tolerance’ of Tipu and Dileep Narasaiah on ‘Tipu safeguarding the land.’ Mahesh Sosale will speak on ‘Tipu’s concerns for people,” he said.
“Basavalinga Murthy of Basava Jnana Mandir will speak on ‘religious thoughts of Tipu Sultan.’ Nagideva seer of Chalavadi Mahapeetha of Chitradurga will speak on ‘Tipu’s ideology on Hindus.’ Mohammed Niqui Ulla Khan will speak about Tipu and Hindu Muslim harmony,” he said.
“Former minister B T Lalita Nayak, Moinuddin Pasha, Dr Lakshminarayan, Dr S Mangalamurthy and others will take part in valedictory session,” he added.
Maulana Ayub Ansari, Chikkandhani, Revanna, Mahadevamurthy and others were present.
