Two elephants die after hit by goods train

Hassan, June 05:- In an incident reported near Sakleshpur two elephant calves were killed on the spot after a train hit them on Monday.

According to the forest officials the incident took place near Edakumari village adjacent to Western ghats in Sakleshpur taluk when the calves were crossing the railway track.

The calves of around eight and twelve years were hit by a goods train going to Bengaluru from Mangaluru. The forest officials rushed to the spot following the information provided by the railway authorities and cleared the carcass from the track.
