Two men arrested on charges of raping minor girls

Mysuru, April 3:-  City police have arrested two men who allegedly raped two minor girls, aged 10, at Subhash Nagar in NR Police Station limits.

The arrested have been identified as Jai Shivamadeva, 53, and Khaisar, 30, both from NR Mohalla.

Shivamadeva took the two girls to a park, saying he would give them chocolate. Khaisar, who was present at the spot, blackmailed the girls and raped them. Parents of the girls, who went in search of them, found them abandoned in the park. They immediately filed a complaint at NR Police Station. The police arrested the two men and handed them over to judicial custody. A complaint has been registered against them under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Student, pedestrian killed: In two separate accidents, a student and a pedestrian died at Hunsur on Tuesday. Chethan (15), an SSLC student studying at a private school in Hunsur, was hit by a lorry from behind while he was walking on the Lakshmana Theertha old bridge after writing his SSLC exam. He died while being taken to a hospital. Hunsur Police have registered a complaint and arrested the lorry driver Nasir.

In another incident, a pedestrian Balaraj of Kalkunike was hit by a Tata Sumo vehicle coming from Hanagudu side near Channasoge village. He died on the spot and Hunsur Police have registered a complaint.

3 commit suicide: In separate incidents, three people committed suicide in the city.

Jhansi Rani (19), a student of 1st BSc, a resident of Vidyaranyapuram, committed suicide by consuming sleeping tablets. She took the extreme step, unable to cope up with the pressure of academics. Vidyaranyapuram Police has registered a complaint.

A resident of Belavadi, Rajesh (25), whose engagement was held last month, committed suicide by consuming poison due to unbearable stomach pain. Vijayanagar Police has registered a complaint.

A technician at the KR Hospital laboratory, Prabhu (48) committed suicide by hanging. A resident of Bogadi, Prabhu committed suicide when no one was at home.  Saraswathipuram Police has registered a complaint. (MR/KS).
