Two new cases of Covid-19 surface in Mysuru; tally at 3

178 new Covid-19 cases reported in in Karnataka on Friday; tally rises to 2,711

Health News, Karnataka, Mysuru/Bengaluru, May 29:-With two new cases of Covid-19 reported in Mysuru on Friday (May 29), the tally of active cases has reached three.

Among the two cases, one is a 26-year-old man who had returned from Rajasthan (P-2561) and another patient, a 28-year-old man who returned from Ireland (P-2565).

A total of 92 cases have been reported in the city so far. The chunk of 74 cases were linked to the infamous hotspot, Nanjangud-based pharmaceutical company Jubilant Generics.

On Thursday (May 28), one patient has been discharged from designated Covid-19 Government Hospital on KRS Road in the city.

Jubilant Generics employed more than one thousand workers, all the workers has been tested for novel coronavirus after P-52 was infected through unknown source and was the first reported positive cases from Nanjangud cluster.

The man in his thirties, a native of Mysuru who had returned from Dubai (UAE) and got himself admitted to KR Hospital was the first Covid-19 positive case in Mysuru district.

In Karnataka, another bigger spike of cases was reported on Friday (May 29). The state has reported a total of 178 cases, thus bringing the tally to 2711. On May 29, 35 patients were discharged.

A total of 869 patients were cured and discharged from designated Covid-19 Government Hospitals, with 47 deaths the active cases in the state stands at 1,793 as on May 29. Two deaths were attributed to non-Covid causes.

Of the178 new confirmed cases of the deadly virus, Raichur reported 62 cases, Yadgir – 60 cases, Kalaburagi (15), Udupi (15), Bengaluru Urban – 11 cases, Chikkaballapura, Davangere – 4 cases each, Mandya, Mysuru – 2 cases each, Dharwad, Chitradurga and Shivamogga – one case each.

156 cases out of the 178 were linked to the patients who had returned from Mumbai, other cases are linked to Telangana, New Delhi, Jharkhand and in few cases Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI), Influenza Like Illness (ILI) cited for the positive results for coronavirus.

As many as 67 women, 34 children under the age of 15 and 77 men have tested positive for the Covid-19. (NAV)
