Mysuru, March 26:- Saraswathipuram Police carried out an operation and arrested a two-wheeler thief and recovered 20 bikes and four top-end bi-cycles worth Rs 4.81 lakh.
The arrested man has been identified as Srinivas,50, of Hosuru in Gundlupet. He had rented a house at TK Layout only for the purpose of stealing two-wheelers for the last two years. He had stolen 20 bikes using duplicate keys so far. He was caught while trying to steal a bike on March 21 morning by Inspector Dhanaraj. He confessed to stealing two-wheelers during an inquiry.
Chain snatched: A bike-borne man snatched a gold chain worth Rs 55,000 from a woman who was walking on the road at 3 pm on Tuesday. The incident happened at Alanahalli Layout. Vimalamma has filed a complaint at Alanahalli Police Station, saying an unknown person on a black bike snatched her gold chain and sped away in a jiffy.
Ornaments missing: Gold ornaments kept inside the wardrobe have been stolen from a house in Krishnaraja Police Station limits.
One Prema has filed a complaint on the theft. In her complaint, she said that their house had three keys, of which two had gone missing. When the residents could not find the keys, they tried to check the wardrobe if everything was intact. Then they found one 40-gram chain, 30-gram necklace, 15-gram rope chain, eight-gram chain and a bracelet weighing 15 grams were missing.
A week before the incident happened, Prema said gold jewellery was in place and one week later, after she lost the keys, the theft had taken place. Prema points a finger at one Dakshayini who stays on the second floor of the same building. (MR/KS)
