Two-wheeler thieves nabbed; bikes worth Rs 21 lakh seized

Mysuru, September 12:- Vijayanagar Police have arrested two two-wheeler thieves who were standing suspiciously near a bike without number plate near Hinkal signal on Hunsur Road here on September 7.

The arrested have been identified as Stanley, 24, of Hinkal and Darshan, 24, of Mullusoge village, Somwarpet, Kodagu. When grilled, they confessed to stealing two-wheelers at Vijayanagar, Hebbal, Saraswathipuram, Jayalakshmipuram and Kushalanagar since 2018. They had allegedly stolen 11 motorcycles and sold them off at various places. They confessed to stealing a woman’s vanity bag along with her cell phone at Jayalakshmipuram Police Station limits. The police have recovered 11 bikes worth Rs 21,45,000 (Yamaha R15 – 1, Apache – 3, Pulsar – 5 and KTM Duke – 2) and an Apple iPhone.

The operation was carried out by Inspector Suresh Kumar, ASI Jayappa, staffs Shankar, Eshwar, Ashwatha Kumar, Muralidhar, Umesh, Mahadev, Tilak Kumar, Annappa, Harish and Srinivas. (MR/KS)
