Two-kg gold goes missing from locked house in Mysuru

Mysuru, September 1:- The front and back doors of the house are intact but two-kg gold has gone missing! The incident has taken place at a house in Saraswathipuram in the city. A strange case of theft that is giving rise to many questions.

The owner of the house, Vijaykumar is a businessman and his wife Vanajakshi is working as a daffadar in the Police Department. On August 17, Vijaykumar was diagnosed with the coronavirus and was admitted to hospital for treatment. On Monday (August 31) afternoon, his mother also tested positive for the virus and was taken to a hospital. Taking advantage of the situation, someone known to the family, made good with two kg gold but without using a duplicate key.

Saraswathipuram Police inspector visited the house for verification. Fingerprint experts and dog squad were also pressed into service.

So far, there is no clue about the modus operandi of the theft.  Prima facie, police suspect some insiders must have committed the theft. A case has been registered. (MR/KS)
